How to reduce inequalities in end of life care for LGBTQ people

This course focuses on the needs and experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual and / or trans people who are facing advanced illness.

Research has shown that lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or trans (LGBT) people may not receive the care they need from health and social care professionals when facing serious illness, and have increased risk of certain life-limiting illnesses.

Although LGBT people experience the same feelings of intense grief and pain when they lose a partner, they may also face additional stressors such as failure of others in acknowledging their relationship, homophobia, and additional legal and financial barriers.
